Bedding

Bedding - bed linen, duvets, bed sheets & more

After a stressful day, you deserve to go to a cosy, blissful and comfortable bed in the evening. So that nothing disturbs you and deprives you of a well-deserved night's sleep, it is worth paying attention to the quality of your bedding. But bedding also has to fit the season and your personal preferences - and there are definitely differences.

Buying bedding - start with a basic set

Your bed needs at least one duvet for all seasons, sheets and a comfortable pillow so that you can enjoy it to the fullest. Different blankets, for example for the warm summer and cold winter, are optional. If, on the other hand, you like it nice and cool all year round, you can just as easily do without warm winter bed linen. How your bed linen feels and, above all, how you feel about it yourself largely depends on the material you have chosen. In addition, all covers must of course match the size of the pillow and blanket. Sets ensure a coordinated look, which is necessary in double beds, but also ensures a successful aesthetic in single beds.

The different types and materials of bedding

One consideration it is the textile itself, another is the way it is processed - both determine how warm or cool, soft or smooth the covers feel. Microfibre is considered to be particularly fine and dimensionally stable: The fibres also have microscopically small air chambers and pores, which means that they absorb moisture well on the one hand and continuously ventilate it on the other. The elastic material reliably retains its shape even after many uses.

Both flannel and flannelette are warmer duvet covers and are therefore only suitable in winter. Since the fibres are very fluffy and robust, there is no need to iron them - the materials usually stay nice and smooth. Mako satin and glossy satin, on the other hand, have a cooling effect. Air is continuously transported away through the smooth surface and the fine weave. Mako satin is also refined in a caustic soda bath, which makes the fabric even more resistant.

Choosing the right style and bed sheet

Covers are available in a colonial style with a more rustic touch, in a romantic country house style or with natural pastel colours in a Scandinavian style. Bed covers have an oriental and southern touch when they show more courage in colour, and also work with many beautiful patterns. It is best to match the colour of the fitted sheet to the selected covers. Here, too, the same principle applies to the decision-making process as to the covers: (Mako) satin is very smooth and cool, while thicker fabrics such as flannelette or flannel warm you up in winter. A warmer bed sheet in winter is worth considering, especially with innerspring mattresses, which hardly store any heat due to the air circulation. FAQ

Which bed linen is best for allergy sufferers?

Allergy sufferers should make sure that the covers are boil-proof - this means they can be washed at at least 60 degrees. At these temperatures, the allergenic particles and enzymes break down.

How do you wash bed linen correctly?

The covers should be turned inside out before washing. In addition, zippers or buttons must be closed. Detergents for delicates and coloured fabric are recommended.

Which duvet covers should you buy when you sweat at night?

In this case, we recommend moisture-absorbing fabrics such as terry cloth or jersey as well as cooling textiles, especially satin and mako satin.
