The classic Ortofon Concorde system – now with a scratch
Ortofon once revolutionized the DJ market with the design of
their Concorde pickup systems. Today, you’ve got a whole range of different
pickup types for a variety of different applications.
Most DJs have long had the problem of not being able to
properly see where they are placing the needle as they are typically forced to
work with headshell systems. Ortofon quickly recognized this problem and
developed the Concorde pick up system. A great feature of the Concorde Systems
is handling. Positioning the pickup on a certain point on the record is a lot
easier than with the OM/Headshell versions thanks to the pickup systems optimal
leveling. Another advantage of the Ortofon Concorde is the ability to easily
attach the pickup to the tone arm with the SME standard screw connection.
Now, there’s also a scratch version of the classic Ortofon
needles. For a long time, there’s been no battle-compatible version of the Concorde
system but, as so many favour their design, Ortofon have finally developed the
Concorde Scratch. The system features a specially stabilised needle attachment
and 7 mV output voltage.
The spherical needle is great for scratching thanks to more
stability in the grooves and also helps to protect your records at the same
