The popular Korg KAOSS products have proven the fun factor
of a performance through simple finger movements. The monotron's keyboard has a
range of 16 semitones with each key printed onto the device. The keyboard is a
typical ribbon controller for pitch and resembles the pads from the Korg
KAOSSILATOR and KAOSS pad mini and makes easy work of vibratos and glides.
The monotron is radically simple: One oscillator/VCO, a
filter/VCF (both voltage controlled) and a low frequency oscillator (LFO). Each
knob controls just one sound parameter to keep sound creation intuitive. Keep
it simple! The monotron makes audio creativity extremely fun – through its
analogue synthesis – and is ideal for newcomers to synthesizers and musicians
that want to expand their palette of sounds.
The famous VCF circuit from the classic Korg MS-10 and MS-20
synthesizers is also featured in the monotron. For more than 30 years, this
aggressive filter sound has been highly sought after. The cutoff knob controls
the cutoff frequency of the low pass filter and the peak knob controls
resonance. The filter is an essential component of all analogue synthesizers
and counts towards a large part of their character and personality.
Just like the real MS-10, the monotron filter can also
process external audio sources. The signal can be fed in directly before the
VCF in the signal path via the input jack (AUX input). This allows you to
connect a KAOSSILATOR, guitar or audio device and process it with the analogue
Thanks to its integrated mini speaker, battery-powered
operation and compact size, the monotron can be used and enjoyed anywhere and
any time. Create sounds and ideas at home with your headphones on or connect
the monotron to a mixer or PA system for live performances.
