The Akai Professional MPD26 is a MIDI USB pad controller featuring the one-of-a-kind MPC pads. The controller is perfect for producers, sound designers, musicians and DJs and links the intuitive MPC design and technology with the easy USB connections for classic beat making on your computer.

At the heart of the Akai Pro MPD26 is its 16 touch and pressure-sensitive MPC pads that can only come of Akai Professional. With its 4 banks you have access to up to 64 samples in no time at all. The Akai MPD26 features an assignable Q-link controller from the MPC series that allows you to easily control almost any software parameter in real time. Six assignable Q-link faders and six Q-link 360˚ controls guarantee that you’ll spend less time with the mouse and more time with your music. The Akai MPD26’s transport keys are also easy to use and offer control of all transport functions in your favourite DAW or sequencer program.

The control centre of the Akai Pro MPD26 has been taken directly from the MPC. For this reason, the Akai MPD26 is not just any controller – it offers the MPC key technology that made it the de facto standard for modern music production. The MPC note repeat function on the Akai MPD26 allows quick and exact playback of rhythmic patterns such as 16^th note hi-hats. With the MPC swing function, often called the ‘heart and soul of Hip Hop’, offers an element of human feeling for your beats. For this you can define exactly how strong and what timing you want your beat to have. Of course, the Akai MPD26 doesn’t forget the MPC full level and MPC 16-level functions for its pads.

The Akai Professional MPD26 sends MIDI information via its plug and play USB connection and therefore requires no drivers for use with Windows and Mac computers. Via its USB connection the Akai Pro MPD26 also takes its power so that with just one USB cable you’re ready to get going. The Akai MPD26 also offers a standard DIN MIDI in and output section so that you can connect external MIDI hardware such as synths or other sound modules. Included with the Akai MPD26 is the Ableton Live Lite Akai Edition and Editor Librarian software – great for getting started with beat making right out of the box.
